Reflections on Salvation and Justification in the New Testament
This article offers some reflections on how the New Testament views salvation and justification. It first notes the common ground in Roman Catholic and evangelical views of salvation. Carson also outlines four problem areas before he attempts to summarize some of what the Bible says about salvation, and draw attention to points of convergence but also to the most important points of divergence in the respective understandings on these topics by Catholics and evangelicals. Finally, Carson pleads for recognition of larger structures of thought that lead to divergences of interpretation.
