The Economists of the Reformation
In this article the author discusses the teaching of the Protestant Reformers (Luther, Calvin, and the Puritans) toward issues of wealth, work, interest, and calling. His aim is to show us what a typical “Protestant Work Ethic" would look like. In this article we see that the Reformers were in some cases also influenced by the society around them with regards to economic questions. While much of the teaching continued in the Catholic tradition, the Reformers did elevate the views of calling and work; what had been toil was elevated to Divine calling and service to God.
