Psalm 139:13-16
Psalm 139:13-16
Have you even seen a newborn baby? Maybe you’ve even been able to hold a little baby in your arms. As you look at that baby, you have no idea what she is going to be like when she grows up, do you? You don’t know if she will be tall or short. You don’t know if she will be artistic or musical. In a way, this baby really is a mystery.
Yet, this baby is not a mystery to God. God is going to make that baby grow up to be the exact person he wants her to be. David sings, “For You formed my inward parts…. I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” God made everyone one of us special in our own way. He knew what parents he’d give you, what brothers and sisters, what job you would do, and so he already made you special in your mother’s womb.
Even more than that, God has also planned every one of your days. David continues to sing, “And in your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me.” Isn’t that a wonderful thought? Every single day that you have already lived, God planned beforehand. And in all the days that you will still live, God knows what will happen every hour, every minute and every second.
This is a great comfort. As your loving Father, God goes with you every day. Even when days are scary or lonely, God will go with you. If you have to go to the dentist, God has that planned and he will go with you. If you have to visit your sick aunty, God has that planned and he will go with you.
You do not need to be afraid. Your heavenly Father, who made you in exactly the way he wanted to in your mother’s womb, has also planned every one of your days, and he will go with you each and every day.
Reflection with your child:
How does it comfort you to know that God has already planned what is going to happen today?
