The African church has become a major influence in Christianity. An important contributor of international reputation is Kwame Bediako, a scholar from Ghana. This article is a discussion of the issue of Christian identity from an African perspective addressed in Bediako's book, Theology and Identity: The Impact of Culture on Christian Thought in the Second Century and Modern Africa.
